Seasonal

Preparing for Halloween ๐ŸŽƒ

Saturday 31 October. A few simple things help everyone enjoy it, whether you're handing out sweets or would rather have a quiet night in.

Trick or treat etiquette

  • Pumpkin out means welcome. A lit pumpkin by the door is the usual sign you're happy to have callers.
  • No pumpkin, no knock. Please skip houses without one, or with a "no callers" sign.
  • Keep it early. Aim to finish by around 8pm, especially for younger children.
  • Think of older neighbours. Some may find knocks after dark unsettling.

Staying safe

  • Children under 12 should go with an adult.
  • Carry a torch and wear something bright or reflective.
  • Check sweets before eating, and watch out for allergies.
  • Use LED candles in pumpkins near doorways and costumes.
  • Keep pets inside. The doorbell and costumes can stress them.

Rather not have callers?

Print this and pop it in your window.

Bonfire Night ๐ŸŽ†

Thursday 5 November. If you're letting off fireworks, please let neighbours know in advance so pet owners can prepare, and keep them before 11pm as the law requires.

Organised displays are the safest way to enjoy them.

Anti-social behaviour: it's time to act together

For months, many of us have put up with the same problems. Reporting it on our own hasn't fixed it. Reporting it together can.

What's been happening

Residents across the street have raised the same ongoing problems:

  • Shouting and disturbances in the early hours
  • Motorbikes being revved late at night
  • A strong smell of cannabis
  • A dog getting loose while children are playing outside

The police have attended many times, yet it carries on. Everyone deserves to sleep, and every child deserves to play outside safely.

If something is happening now and anyone is at risk, call 999.

Why one report isn't enough

The police, the council and the landlord can only act on what's officially reported to them. Calls and complaints made casually, or never made, leave no record.

3separate incidents
6months
1month to report each

That's the threshold for an ASB Case Review. It brings the police, the council and the landlord to the same table to review everything and agree a plan. They have a legal duty to do it once the threshold is met.

What we need everyone to do

  1. Report every incident, every timePolice on 101 or online, and the council's community safety team at communitysafety@wychavon.gov.uk. Landlord details will be added here once confirmed.
  2. Get a reference numberAsk for one every time and write it down. Without it, the report is hard to trace later.
  3. Report within a few daysIncidents must be reported within a month to count, so don't let them build up.
  4. Keep a simple logDate, time, what happened, who you told, and the reference. A note on your phone is fine.
  5. Share your records with usWith your permission, we'll combine them into one joint request for an ASB Case Review. Several households together carry far more weight.

Please stay calm and keep your distance. Don't confront anyone or post about it on social media. Let the reports do the work. It keeps you safe and keeps the case strong.

We need to hear from you

Every incident counts, reported or not

The more of us who share what we've been through, the stronger our case. Please tell us about everything, even if you think it's small or someone else has already reported it.

โœ…

Already reported something?

Tell us when it happened, who you reported it to and any reference numbers. Even one report helps us show the pattern.

๐Ÿ“

Never reported it?

Tell us anyway. Roughly when, and what happened. It shows how long this has really been going on and helps our joint statement.

Happened in the last month? Report it to the police now as well, so it officially counts.
